Current transformer (CT) dan Potensial transformer (PT) adalah perangkat listrik yang berfungsi untuk menurunkan tegangan dan juga arus. CT dan PT ini dibutuhkan dalam suatu sistem proteksi jaringan tenaga listrik sebagai alat input bagi relai proteksi ataupun alat ukur. Transformer proteksi berbeda dengan tranmsformer pengukuran, perbedaan tersebut terletak pada titik jenuh transformer proteksi yang lebih tinggi titik jenuhnya dibandingkan dengan transformer pengukuran. Transformer proteksi ini sangatlah penting dalam suatu sistem proteksi jaringan listrik karena bila salah memilih transformer proteksi maka relai proteksi akan gagal bekerja saat terjadi gangguan dan bisa menyebabkan kerusakan pada peralatan listrik lain juga membahayakan manusia dan lingkungan sekitarnya. Deskripsi Alternatif :

Current transformer (CT) and potential transformer (PT) is an electrical device which serves to lower the voltage and current. CT and PT is needed in a network of power protection systems as input devices for relay protection or measuring devices. Protection Transformer is different from measurement transformer, saturation point of transformer protection is higher than saturation point of transformer measurement. Transformer protection is especially important in an electrical network protection system because when choosing a transformer protection relays that do not match then the protection will fail to work when an interruption occurs and can cause damage to other electrical equipment are also harmful to humans and the surrounding environment.
