Keyword : cooperative learning (ct), instructional method, values, and language teaching

Cooperative Learning (CL) is relatively new to Indonesian education system, although in other developed countries, this instructional method has been applied since 1980's. The use of cooperative learning has proved to develop values for real life purposes which are embedded in classroom teachings such as students' appreciation of others, perspective taking, and ability to work with others toward common goals. CL has been applied in the teaching of various subjects in countries with small classes. This writing tries to see how CL can be implemented in language teaching with large classes. In principles aid reasoning are also discussed
