In general, main shock is to be considered when structures are designed. It is expected, however, aftershock tends to have the intensity of over six on the seismic scale. Therefore, predicting the damage to structures due to aftershock is very important. In this study, the capacity spectrum method procedure is extended for seismic damage assessment of symmetrical building with plan-centric and plan-eccentric which indicated by the global response parameters of the structures such as edge displacements, interstorey drift ratios, fundamental period changes and member ductility demands. By means of examples, it is shown that aftershock probably induce to increase the damage to the systems.
