Jirak Drainage Basin is located between Wonosari and karts topography of Gunung Sewu. This area is nearly flat and mostly occupied by covered soil (regolith). Water resources are abundant and important for water-based paddy farming which developed on the regolith. Their economic significance for the development of the 3 districts nearby makes a research on the thickness of the regolith become important. Sub-surface mapping with ground penetration radar (georadar) seems appropriate to be applied in the area. Georadar is a geophysics techniques for shallow exploration that able to image soil condition based on dielectric contrasts. The result of this research suggests that the georadar was effective in regolith thickness mapping. The regolith is characterized by a continuous reflection whilst bedrock is distinguished by a discontinuous reflection dus to bedding and joint planes. Regolith thickness varies from 0.6 to 1.4 m which apparently followed a bedrock paleo-topography and formed as results of ancient mass wasting, lacustrine and fluvial sedimentation.
