Consumers shop to satisfy a number of needs. Since the goal of shopping is to provide satisfaction of certain motives, the product purchased during these trips appears to be chosen without prior planning and represent an impulse buying behavior (Hausman, 2000). This research used quantitative data t test the hypothesis related to the relationship of shopping motives to impulse buying at Matahari Department Store. The findings indicate that shopping motives is positively correlated to impulse buying. Furthermore, this research found that diversion and pleasure of bargaining are the most shopping motives that encourage consumers to shop at Matahari Department Store king's. The result indicates that sometimes consumers experience to buy impulsively.
