Behavioural Intention In Virtual Reality (VR) Tourism: Assessment Of The Conceptual Model And Development Of The Business Strategy

The tourism industry has been the sector most affected in the past year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Virtual reality tourism is recommended by the world tourism organization and the Indonesian government to solve the problems that are currently happening. Virtual reality tourism can be used as a promotional medium and a substitute product for travel. In Indonesia, VR tourism has increased in popularity during the Covid-19 pandemic. That phenomenon is an opportunity for travel service providers to attract tourists by using VR tourism. However, knowledge about the factors that influence the interest of visiting tourists with VR tourism is still limited. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of content quality, system quality, and satisfaction on behavioral intentions The complete knowledge is needed about the factors that influence the interest of visiting tourists through VR tourism. Therefore, this study uses a descriptive exploratory approach with the main focus on VR tourism in Indonesia. The population chosen to answer the needs are tourists in Bandung who have used VR tourism. A total of 350 samples were selected to fill out the self-administered questionnaire and three VR tourism activities as objects of observation. Furthermore, the data collected from the questionnaires were analyzed using the structural equation model (SEM) and multi-group analysis (MGA) methods on partial least squares (PLS). Meanwhile, the observation data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The combination of the two methods used produces comprehensive knowledge. The results of data analysis show that content quality is the most important factor in VR tourism. Content quality has a significant influence in influencing satisfaction and behavioral intention. Meanwhile, the quality of the system has a significant influence on the satisfaction of VR tourism users. The results in this study provide practical guidance for practitioners in developing VR tourism activities to attract the interest of visiting VR tourism users.
