This study is entitled Analyzing Types of Sentences Used in Oxford Read and Discover Series Books. This study aims to identify the types of sentences used in the books, to identify the type of sentence mostly used, and to analyze sentence pattern mostly used in the books. Data is taken from the Oxford Read and Discover books Levels 1, 4, and 6 of the natural world Series. The method used in this study is qualitative with a simple calculation. Qualitative method is applied to analyze each sentence. Furthermore, the total types of sentences used in the books and the percentage of the analysis result is counted by applying calculation. The results show that sentences types used in Oxford Read and Discover are 76% simples sentences, 20% complex sentences, 2% compound sentences, and 2% compound-complex sentences. Therefore, a simple sentence is the type of sentence mostly used in the books. Each book uses a different sentence pattern. In Level 1 subject + verb + adverb is the mostly used sentence pattern, in Level 4 is subject + verb + object, and in Level 6 is subject + verb + complement. These patterns are the basic sentence patterns used in the books so that readers, especially children, can easily understand the content of the books.
