Evaporasi merupakan proses fisis perubahan cairan menjadi uap. Proses evaporasi bertujuan untuk memekatkan larutan feed yang terdiri dari zat terlarut yang tidak mudah menguap dan pelarut yang mudah menguap. Tujuan proses ini di pabrik sirup gula untuk mengurangi kandungan air sehingga diperoleh brix yang lebih tinggi. Alat yang digunakan dalam proses evaporasi ini adalah evaporator jenis single effect dengan steam economy sebesar 0,846 kg air teruapkan/kg steam. Proses ini merupakan salah satu proses yang menggunakan energi dalam jumlah besar. Upaya mengurangi konsumsi energi perlu dilakukan pergantian jenis evaporator menggunakan jenis multiple effect evaporator. Perancangan dimulai dengan studi literatur berdasarkan model matematika yang dikembangkan oleh Geankoplis pada bukunya yang berjudul Transport Processes and Unit Operations. Parameter awal perancangan terdiri dari temperatur feed masuk, temperatur steam, konsentrasi (brix) feed, konsentrasi (brix) produk, tekanan steam, tekanan feed, dan laju aliran masa feed. Melakukan analisis kinerja dan ekonomi teknik pada hasil perancangan multiple effect evaporator. Berdasarkan perancangan multiple effect evaporator memiliki kebutuhan steam sebesar 7.146 kg/h serta nilai steam economy sebesar 2,227 kg air teruapkan/kg steam. Kinerja evaporator dilihat dari kebutuhan steam dan steam economy mengalami kenaikkan. Hal tersebut terbukti berdasarkan jumlah kebutuhan steam yang menurun dan nilai steam economy yang meningkat. Hasil perancangan menunjukkan syarat terpenuhi yakni ð´1 = ð´2 = ð´3. Berdasarkan analisis ekonomi teknik NPV>0 dimana nilai NPV pada tahun ke-15 sebesar Rp. 2.016.515.456, - sehingga proyek menguntungkan dan dapat dilakukan. Periode pengembalian atau Payback Period selama 1 tahun 5 bulan. Kata kunci: Air, Aspen Hysys, Evaporator, Multiple Effect Evaporator, Steam.
Deskripsi Alternatif :Evaporation is the physical process of changing a liquid into a vapor. The evaporation process aims to concentrate the feed solution consisting of a non-volatile solute and a volatile solvent. The purpose of this process in the sugar syrup factory is to reduce the water content so that a higher brix is obtained. The machine used in this evaporation process is a single effect evaporator with a steam economy of 0.846 kg of evaporated water/kg steam. This process is a process that uses a large amount of energy. Efforts to reduce energy consumption need to change the type of evaporator using a multiple effect evaporator. The design begins with a literature study based on the mathematical model developed by Geankoplis in his book entitled Transport Processes and Unit Operations. The initial design parameters consist of the inlet feed temperature, steam temperature, feed concentration (brix), product concentration (brix), steam pressure, feed pressure, and feed mass flow rate. Performing performance analysis and economics technique of multiple effect evaporator design. Based on the design of the multiple effect evaporator, it has a steam requirement of 7,146 kg/h and a steam economy value of 2,227 kg of evaporated water/kg steam. The performance of the evaporator is seen from the need for steam and the steam economy has increased. This is proven by the decreasing amount of steam demand and the increasing value of steam economy. The results of the design show that the conditions are met, namely ð´1 = ð´2 = ð´3.. Based on the technical economic analysis NPV> 0 where the NPV value in the 15th year is Rp. 2,016,515,456, - so that the project is profitable and can be carried out.
