This present final project entitled An Analysis of Idiomatic Expressions in To Kill a Mockingbird Novel by Harper Lee. This final project is aimed to identify idiomatic expressions in To Kill A Mockingbird novel, to classify the idiomatic expressions which have been identified in To Kill A Mockingbird novel, and to analyze the context of the use idiomatic expressions in To Kill a Mockingbird novel by Harper Lee. This study applied qualitative approach and using three theories stated by Eric Denoun, McCarthy and O'Dell, and Higa in categorizing the idiomatic expressions which have been identified in the novel. The novel is the object and idiomatic expressions are the subject of this analysis. The result of this research shows that there are 152 idiomatic expressions found in the novel; the results are taken sequentially from 31 chapters of the novel and classified into lexemic (phrasal verbs), lexemic (verbal idioms), lexemic (adjectival idioms), lexemic (adverbial idioms), lexemic (nominal idioms), polysemes, proverbial idioms, idiom of similes, idiom of metaphors, opaques/transparent, colloquial/cultural, idiom of binomials, and idiom of trinomials. The dominant kind of idiomatic expressions is idiomatic phrasal verb which appeared 37 times. The meaning of idiomatic expressions found in the novel are based on the context and taken from particular dictionary of idioms. Keywords: Idiom, Novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, Situation, Harper Lee.
