This study analysed the types of sentences in three selected chapters from the biography book entitled Helen Keller. The present study aims are finding types of sentences used in Hellen Keller biography book and identify what type of sentence that is mostly used in the book. This project used a qualitative method to analyze each sentence in the selected chapters and simple calculations to count the types of sentences from the selected chapters and the percentage in each chapter. According to Oshima and Hague (2007), there are four types of sentences, those are simple sentences, compound sentences, complex sentences, and compound-complex sentences. The analysis showed that the types of sentences used in the three selected chapters are simple sentences (40%), compound sentences (21%), complex sentences (29%), and compound-complex sentences (10%). This study showed that the simple sentence is the mostly used sentence in the three selected chapters, which are 54 sentences.
