This final project entitled An Analysis of Phrasal Verb Translation on Forrest Gump Subtitle. This project uses Forrest Gump film subtitle, an American drama-comedy film as the object of the analysis. This project aims are to identify the phrasal verb found in the dialogue of Forrest Gump film subtitle, to identify the translation method used in translating the phrasal verb, to recognize the most frequently used translation method in translating the phrasal verb and also to identify the faithfulness of translation in Forrest Gump subtitle. Qualitative method with text analysis as the main method was applied in finding out the answer for this project. The type of phrasal verb and translation method were analyzed and 139 phrasal verbs were found in the subtitle; and the faithfulness of translation were analyzed in 1532 lines of translation. There are 4 types of phrasal verb found such as Transitive and Separable phrasal verb and Intransitive and Inseparable phrasal verb. Several translation methods used in translating the phrasal verb such as Free Translation, Idiomatic Translation and Communicative Translation.
