This final project's title is Analyzing the Translation on Metaphor Used in the Novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. This final project analysis is focused on analyzing the translation of the metaphor that are used in the novel Pride and Prejudice that is written by Jane Austen in 1813. The accuracy and acceptability of the translation will also be analyzed in this final project. The novel is translated to Indonesian by Berliani Mantilii Nugrahani and published by Qanita in 2019. According to the translation procedure by Newmark (1988a), five translation procedures out of seven procedures (Newmark, 1988a) were used in translating the metaphor found in the original novel; reproducing the same image in the Target Language (TL) procedure (32.03%), replacing the image in the Source Language (SL) with a standard TL image procedure (26.71%), converting metaphor to its sense procedure (38.51%), deleting procedure (1.24%), and translating metaphor by simile procedure (1.24%). The acceptability and accuracy use the theory by Nababan (2012) which resulted in 138 data or 85.71% of the translation is accurate, 21 data or 13.04% is less accurate, and two data or 1.24% is not accurate 153 data or 95.03% is acceptable, 6 data or 3.73% is less acceptable, and two data or 1.24% is not acceptable. The overall result is that the translation of the metaphor is accurate and acceptable, with 138 data or 85.71% being accurate and 153 data or 95.03% is acceptable.
