Gricean maxims are rules that are expected to be followed by interlocutors in a conversation. The maxim consists of four different rules. Those are maxim of quantity, quality, relevance, and manner. The present study aims (1) to find out what maxims are often violated and flouted in the conversation between interlocutors which is the main characters and the other characters of the TV series 13 Reasons Why and (2) to find out the social variables between the interlocutors when the maxims are violated and flouted. Three social variables have been found using Brown and Levinson theory. Talking about utterances, it always involves social variables from Brown and Levinson's theory. Those are social power, social distance, and ranking of imposition. The data have been analyzed using qualitative method. The results have shown that 35 maxims have been violated and flouted. The results also have shown that the social variable does affect to the violation of the maxim.
