Deskripsi Alternatif :

This present project is about adding a hard-subbed English subtitle for Indonesian-speaking travelling videos titled Jalan-Jalan Men which is directed by Andra Febrianto. The chosen episodes to be translated from Jalan-Jalan Men for this present project are "Derawan" and "Pelabuhan Ratu". The videos are chosen because they have not been translated. This project is aimed to produce an English subtitle which has the same short language equivalent from the source language. Furthermore, this subtitle is made in order to promote Derawan and Pelabuhan Ratu to the international audience. The chosen episodes of Jalan-Jalan Men are downloaded after the permission letter from the owner of the content has been obtained. Once are downloaded, the videos are watched many times to get the general idea of the videos. Then, the transcripts of the videos are made to be translated then inserted to the video as subtitle. This present project applied the translation techniques from Molina & Albir since the techniques are considered more flexible in translating the utterances especially when translating short language. To insert the text to the video as subtitle, the subtitling techniques from Karamitroglou were applied. This present project is tested out by a foreigner to know how clear the subtitle is. Through the present project, I found that making subtitle is not always translating the utterances in the video. Making subtitle can also describe what the scene is about through the subtitle. The project is focusing on the equivalent of Indonesian short language in English, so the cultural sensitivity in the translation is more concerned.
