This paper tries to find out how all teaching and administrative staff of Polytechnic ITB (Politeknik Negeri Bandung) face different conflict situations in their workplaces. It tries to uncover whether they prefer to adapt the more active ones like styles like avoidance and surrender or adapt the mpre active ones like styles like avoidance and surrender or adapt the more active ones like collaboration and competition. Literature review for this paper shows that conflict is universal and unavoidable. It occurs when two individuals who are inter dependance face different goals. In managing conflict, people use different approaches. Scholars in the field of interpersonal communication identify five different interpersonal conflict resolution styles: avoiding, accomodating, comprimissing, collaborating, and competing. Findings revealed that respondents used different conflict resolutions styles. Of the five conflict resolution styles, collaborating was used the most, while competing was used the least. They also revealed that respondents prefered to discuss their differences that might lead to bigger conflict situations. These findings contained some limitations because the number of respondents and interviewees were limited. In order to obtain more accurate results, further research that covers a sample with wider range is need.
