This final project entitled "An Analysis of Types of Phrasal Verbs used in BBC News Articles". The aims of this project is to analyze the types of phrasal verbs and their meanings. It is also aimed to find out the most frequently used types of phrasal verbs in the articles. This analysis focuses on types of phrasal verbs which are proposed by Brown (2002). Those are transitive-separable, transitive-inseparable and intransitive-inseparable. The data are collected from articles which are taken from BBC News website. The articles are chosen based on the categories. The categories are Entertainment, News and Business. The articles were analyzed to find out the types, the meaning and the most frequently used types of phrasal verbs in the articles. The result shows that there are 28 phrasal verbs which are found in Entertainment articles and the most frequently used type of phrasal verb is intransitive-inseparable (50%). 16 phrasal verbs are found in News articles and the most frequently used type of phrasal verb in this category is transitive-inseparable (44%). In Business article, there are 17 phrasal verbs and the most frequently used types of phrasal verbs are transitive-separable (35%) and intransitive-inseparable (35%).
