Argumentativeness is a generally stable trait, which predisposes a person to advocate positions on controversial issues and to attack verbally the positions of others. An argumentative person is issue-oriented in disagreement, as distinct from the verbally aggressive person, who is more likely to make destructive personal attacks on an opponent. Literature mention that societies expect males to be more argumentative, more verbally aggressive than females, and females who attempt to gain credibility by adopting male behaviors such as argumentativeness may be misunderstood by her society. This study aims to describe how female employees (administrative and teaching staff) of Politeknik Negeri Bandung express their argumentativeness in the time on conflicting situations. It also tries to find out how they perceive their argumentativeness. A thematic analysis was conducted on field notes and interview transcripts, from which two major themes emerge. Finding indicates that the female employees has shown different levels of argumentativeness (consultative, indirect, and direct). Findings also reveal that, in particular condition, the female employees perceive their argumentativeness as a common behavior. This study contains several limitations. In order to get more accurate result, further research with a large number of respondents need to be conducted.
