This final project entitled 'An Analysis of Tenses Used in Travel Article in Surface Magazineâ was analyzed tenses in culture section of five travel articles in Surface magazine. The data of this final project was taken from Surface Magazine, an American contemporary art magazine publication year 2016. This final project aims to identify what types of tenses are used in travel article; to identify what types of tenses are mostly used in the travel article; and to analyze the use of tenses used in the travel article. This final project used qualitative research method. The analyses results were 42 clauses used present simple tense to show fact, repeated action, and habitual action (60.86%); seven clauses used present continuous tense to show an action or event happen in the same time of speaking (10.17%); six clauses used present perfect tense to show an action or event happen in the past but still having impact to the present moment (8.69%); eight clauses used past simple tense to represent an action or event happen and finish in the past (11.59%); and six clauses used future simple tense to show an action or event that will be happened in the future (8.69%). The result showed that present simple tense is the mostly used tense in culture section in travel article since this kind of article mostly indicates the facts.
