Power supply berdaya rendah (1500VA) dengan spesifikasi khusus ini digunakan untuk menggerakkan mesin listrik di laboratorium listrik. Power supply ini merupakan salah satu peralatan utama yang digunakan untuk praktik mahasiswa. Permasalahan utama adalah Power supply yang ada telah berusia sangat tua, jumlahnya terbatas dan beberapa telah rusak, Sementara tidak ada peralatan di pasaran yang memenuhi spesifikasi tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi sumber kerusakan, memperbaikinya agar berfungsi Kembali. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sumber kerusakan ada pada kemampuan yang rendah dari power supply menghadapi lonjakan arus starting yang sangat besar, adanya komponen yang terhubung singkat karena usia, dan potensi kerusakan komponen lain karena panas jika digunakan dalam waktu lama secara terus menerus. Retrofit yang dilakukan ialah dengan mengganti komponen yang terdeteksi rusak (hubungsingkat), memasang rangkaian proteksi lonjakan arus starting dan memasang pendingin. Ketiga upaya tersebut telah terbukti mampu mengembalikan fungsi utama power supply, meningkatkan kemampuannya terhadap lonjakan arus starting yang besar, dan suhu yang stabil aman. Pengujian yang dilakukan meliputi pengujian fungsi utama tanpa beban, pengujian berbeban dengan beban resistif, beban induktif, uji tahanan isolasi, uji modul proteksi arus starting, dan uji hubung singkat.
Description Alternative :The low power of power supply (1500VA) that has a certain specification is used for the electric machine driver in the electrical machine laboratory. This equipment is the main part of a module that is used for practical student activities in the laboratory. The problem is this equipment is no longer working properly. It always trips if it switches ON. The aims of this research are to identify the source of the trouble and to repair it so that it functions again. The experiment method was used in this research. This research reveals that the source of the trouble is the low ability of that power supply to protect the overshoot of starting current, the short-circuited component causing the lifetime of this equipment, and the high temperature of this equipment if it operates for several hours continuously. A retrofit that has been carried out replace the short-circuited component with the new one, installed the protection circuit to reduce or damped the overshoot of starting current, and add the heatsink to reduce the overheating of temperature. These three efforts have been proven to be able to overcome the main problems of this power supply, improve the capability to reduce overshot current, and has been able to overcome overheating. The assessment that has been carried out includes: the main functionality without load, performance power supply with resistive and inductive load, the assessment of isolated resistance, protection module for reducing the overshot current, and short-circuited assessment.
